Background

Father Ed founded the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Malaybalay, Bukidnon, known as a center of spirituality and prayer  which is visited by people from all over the country. He is the first Filipino Benedictine Abbot becoming superior for twenty years, first, of the Abbey of Our Lady of Montserrat Manila, then, of the Bukidnon Monastery. He has been giving retreats here and abroad mainly for the clergy and religious. His doctoral dissertation was a study on the spirituality of communion and community entitled: “Cenobitism in the Rule of St. Benedict Within the Context of the Early Patristic and Monastic Tradition.” At present, he is Assistant Secretary to the Papal Nuncio in the Philippines at the Apostolic Nunciature Manila.
