Background

Fr. Pasquale T. Giordano, S.J. is an American Jesuit who now belongs to the Philippine Province. He first came to the Philippines in 1966. At present, he is Associate Professor in the theology Department of the Loyola Schools of the Ateneo de Manila University. His interest in integral evangelization stems from his research for his doctoral dissertation on the changing understanding of the social mission of the Philippine Church, completed at The Catholic University of America in 1983 and published as Awakening to Mission: The Philippine Catholic Church, 1965-1981, Quezon City: New Day Publishers, 1988, 376 pp. He has served as Chairman of the Theology Department of the Ateneo de Davao University and Dean of Studies at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Cagayan de Oro City. He developed the Graduate theology Programs at both Ateneo de Davao University and St. John Vianney Theological Seminary. Aside from his academic work, he is active in giving spiritual retreats according to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.
