Abstract: While technological advancement has made people’s lives a lot easier, the quick access to social media like Facebook has affected the spiritual lives of its users. Unknown to many, there are positive and negative impacts to the people who are using it.

This study makes use of the prayer of the Examen of St. Ignatius of Loyola to look into and evaluate the experiences of the people to be a better Christian in the world of Cyberspace. Furthermore, it answers the questions on how the Examen helps the experiences and actions of the person shaped by social media particularly Facebook and in what way the person can be made aware that he or she is “created to praise, reverence, and serve God” in social media.

It is argued that the Examen strengthens the capacity of the person to discern wisely in making decisions in posting, reacting, commenting, sharing, saving, and viewing. It sharpens the person’s capacity to decide according to the will of God and to achieve freedom in these experiences. Through this prayer method of Ignatius, one continues to find God in all things even in these experiences in social media and be aware of the interior movements within our lives without judgment and to use the awareness to help the people to continue moving towards being better and towards God.
