This course reviews the major issues and approaches to the assessment and diagnosis of psychological and relational problems from a pastoral perspective. Using the prevailing diagnostic scheme based on the DSM-V, this course explores various diagnoses from theological perspectives and suggests ways to augment the DSM-IV system with a spiritual axis. The course also presents both psychological and theological perspectives in understanding more common psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, obsessions and impulse control problems.
