Metaphysics is the study of being, arguably the most important course in systematic philosophy. The course will offer a general overview of the entire history of metaphysics from the time of its foundation among the Greeks to its critique by the moderns until its reformulation in our own (postmodern) times. The seminal works of three landmark philosophers will be taken up: Aristotles Metaphysics (together with St. Thomas Aquinas); Immanuel Kants Critique of Pure Reason and Martin Heideggers Being and Time.
