Principles of Supervision in Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Care

This course is an overview of the basic principles in the theory and practice of supervision in pastoral counseling and spiritual care. It is an interplay of the modalities of transformative learning: didactic presentation, reflexive interaction, and supervised experience of actual supervisory practice. It is an integration of pastoral/spiritual, clinical, and scientific dimensions to prepare counselors and spiritual care givers to become effective, holistic, and ethical mentors, guides, challengers, supporters, encouragers, listeners, co-learners, educators, evaluators, spiritual companions as they travel with others on the journey toward accountable ministry.
