Sacraments of Initiation

The course will explore the Sacraments of Initiation from the historical, theological, and liturgi-co-pastoral perspective, with ample opportunity for discussion of pastoral concerns. The course begins with a review of the sacramental economy of salvation – Jesus Christ being the primordial sacrament of God and the Church as the fundamental sacrament of Jesus Christ, and the seven sacraments as acts of Christ in, with and through the Church. Then Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist are individually studied in their theology, historical developments and contemporary liturgico-pastoral imperatives and problematic. Christian Initiation as a process of on-going transformation will be delved into particularly in the local context.
