Abstract:

“The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus” (EG 1). This thesis explores the concept of the joy of the gospel beginning with a look at the tradition of joy in the Old Testament, then the gospel of joy proclaimed by Jesus Christ, and finally the joy of the gospel in Pope Francis’ 2013 apostolic exhortation Evangelii Gaudium.
