In a celebration marked by pomp and pageantry, Loyola School of Theology held on May 9, 2018 its 19th Commencement Exercises as an Ecclesiastical Faculty of Theology. Held at the Singson Hall of the Ateneo de Manila Grade School, Quezon City, the festivities opened with the annual Baccalaurate Mass presided by Fr. Jose “Bong” S. Tupino III of the Diocese of Cubao, LST Batch 1983 and alumnus of San Jose Seminary.

Commencement Speaker was Fr. Francis Gustilo SDB, Professor of Systematic Theology at the Don Bosco Center of Studies. STB Class Valedictorian was Scholastic Jereme Asunto SJ.

At the graduation rites, Fr. President Jose V.C. Quilongquilong SJ handed the LST diploma to the following: 44 graduates of the Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology (STB), 5 graduates of the Licentiate in Sacred Theology (STL) and 2 graduates of the Doctorate in Sacred Theology (STD). Non-Degree Certificates were awarded to 5 graduates of the Certificate in Basic Pastoral Ministry, and 1 graduate of the Certificate in Pastoral Ministry.

Also honored at the occasion are the graduates of the various civil degree programs offered at Loyola School of Theology under the Theology and Ministry Program of the School of Humanities of the Ateneo de Manila University. They will be conferred their degrees at the University Graduation on May 26, 2018. The following civil degrees will be conferred: Master of Arts major in Pastoral Ministry on 33 candidates, Master of Arts major in Theological Studies on 10 candidates, Doctor of Ministry on 1 candidate and PhD in Theology on 1 candidate.

Earlier on 28 March 2018, Loyola School of Theology awarded the STB degree to 8 graduates of St. Joseph Jesuit Scholasticate in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. By virtue of the relationship of affiliation between SJJS and LST, the Congregation for Catholic Education, in a decree dated 23 January 2018, has granted LST as an Ecclesiastical Faculty the power to confer the STB degree to students of SJJS “who, after having favorably completed the prescribed program of study (can. 250), have properly passed the special examinations under the guidance and authority of the same Faculty”.
