Good news from the Vatican!
In a decree dated 19 May 2023, Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, has approved the establishment of ST. JOHN VIANNEY SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY (SJVST), Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, as an Ecclesiastical Higher Educational Institution of the Holy See, with canonical public juridic personality under Church law.
SJVST is also known as St. John Vianney Theological Seminary of the CABUSTAM dioceses of Mindanao: Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, Surigao, Tandag, and Malaybalay.
The Prefect has also thereby approved the Statutes of SJVST and its affiliation with LST for a period of five years, in accordance with the pertinent provisions of the Instruction on the Affiliation of Institutes of Higher Studies (Art. 17; 10 par. 2).
By virtue of this affiliation, students of SJVTS who successfully complete their theological program are granted the ecclesiastical degree, Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology (STB), by LST.
