LST and IFFAsia Partner to Launch Diploma in Integral Leadership and Community Development

Jan 21, 2025

On January 17, 2025, Loyola School of Theology (LST) and the Institute of Formation Fondacio Asia (IFFAsia) formalized their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Agreement to offer a non-degree Diploma in Integral Leadership and Community Development (DIL). The signing ceremony took place at the Arrupe Conference Room of LST, solidifying a shared commitment to leadership formation and community engagement in the Asian context.

The agreement was signed by Fr. Enrico C. Eusebio SJ, President of LST, and Ms. Florence A. Alexius, Director of IFFAsia, and was witnessed by Fr. Rogel Abais SJ, LST Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Mr. Rodrigo B. Babiera Jr., Assistant Director of IFFAsia. The event was graced by the presence of IFFAsia formators Rebecca Garces and Le Thi Tuyet An.

The DIL program is a residential, two-phase initiative aimed at providing young people from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds in Asia with a pathway to engage in theological reflection and community leadership, empowering them to become agents of change and dialogue.

Running from January to November, it features eight modular courses and requires the completion of 48 credits of seminar-workshops conducted over two academic semesters. The program offers a holistic approach to leadership development by integrating human formation, Christian discipleship, and socio-pastoral engagement.

IFFAsia serves as a Discipleship-Mission School for young adults, professionals, and lay leaders across Asia. It was launched in May 2006 by Fondacio at the service of local Churches and communities in Asia. Fondacio is an international private association of the lay faithful of pontifical right and is engaged in works of evangelization, formation, and development.

This partnership recognizes IFFAsia’s mission of forming young leaders in Asia and LST’s commitment to one of the Society of Jesus’ Universal Apostolic Preferences – Journeying with the Youth.
