In the Vatican II era, the most influential organization among the local Churches of Asia has been the Federation of Asian Bishops Conferences (FABC), the body which emerged from the historic Asian visit of Pope Paul VI in 1970. This course traces the dynamic growth of the consciousness of the Churches of Asia in the past four decades; it attempts to present an ecclesiology of the Asian Churches. Various thematic elements form the course content, such as: FABC history and structure, the reception of Vatican II in Asia, local Church, interreligious dialogue, inculturation, and integral evangelization. Finally, the course will highlight the recent (2012) Tenth FABC Plenary Assembly held in Vietnam.
