Epistemology/Hermeneutics

Knowledge, especially postmodern knowledge, is hermeneutic, that is, interpretative. This is the thesis which this course on epistemology and hermeneutics would like to develop, faithful to the best insights of Plato, Aristotle, St. Thomas Aquinas, Descartes, Kant, Hegel, Husserl and Heidegger. The first half of the semester will probe on the nature of knowledge, while the second half will focus on Gadamer’s hermeneutics. The presentation will be both historical and systematic
