Historical and Cultural Background to the Old Testament

This course studies the results of archaeology, inscriptions, and other documents of various periods of Israel’s history in order to provide the student with the necessary context for understanding the Hebrew Scriptures. This course is meant for students who want to deepen their knowledge of the history and cul-ture of ancient Israel. It specializes on crucial events in Old Testament period, and studies the socio-cultural institutions in ancient Israel (e.g., religion, family life, politics, etc.)
