Migration in the Catholic Social Teaching

The first part of the course traces the historical development of the teaching of the Church on the pastoral care of migrants, with particular attention to the major documents issued by the Popes and the Roman Curia. The second part will focus on the teaching of the Churches in Asia and on some thematic aspects.

This course will be a survey of the historical development of the Church’s teaching on pastoral care of migrants as articulated by popes, some Church hierarchical authorities and other pertinent theologians. This course will give special attention to the implication of migration to the Filipino families and other themes that are intimately linked with migration, such as ecclesiology and pastoral ministry.
