Religion, The Catholic Church and Society

The course studies the relationship and interface between Religion, especially the Catholic Church, and Society at large. The works of contemporary theorists and theologians on both religion and society will be utilized to shed light on the dynamics of such a relationship. Issues pertaining to socio-cultural-religious traditions, folk religiosity, inculturation, evangelization, religious fundamentalism and church-state relations will be discussed.
