Sep 29, 2024

The Loyola School of Theology (L.S.T.) invites you to the oral defense of the S.T.L. Tesina entitled “UKRAINIAN INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS AND THE JOURNEY IN CHRISTIAN HOPE” by Sr. PAMELA A. TUASON, C.C.N. on 2 October 2024, Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at the Tipanan ni San Ignacio, DLC 201, 2/F Dela Costa Bldg., L.S.T. The Board of Examiners is composed of Carmen Lourdes Valdes, Ph.D. (Adviser), Fr. Emmanuel Marfori, S.Th.D. (Second Reader/Principal Examiner), and Fr. Jojo Fung, S.J., Ph.D. The defense is being held in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree Licentiate in Sacred Theology concentrating in the field of Migration Theology. It is open to the public.

Abstract: This tesina focuses on narratives of internally displaced Ukrainians (IDP) amidst the war and how these stories speak about the Christian hope defined by Jurgenn Moltmann. Inspired by Paul Ricoeur’s mimetic theory, this tesina analyzed personal stories of Ukrainian IDPs, gathered specifically for this study, and brought to light theological interpretations on Christian hope.

Furthermore, this tesina aims at raising awareness on how migrants, in general, can contribute to doing theology through a better understanding of how their experiences speak about hope – which is innately Christian – in today’s globalized world.
