Exegesis: Psalms

This course introduces the students to methods of exegesis. These methods are then applied to selected Psalms. Course work is based on the Hebrew text. This is a study of the psalms of lament in terms of their historical background, poetic nature, canonical context, and application to the Asian contexts. Other lament literature outside the Psalms (the Book of Lamentations and Confessions of Jeremiah), as well as modern laments, will also be included in the study.
